This year, Benvenuti Oil Company proudly celebrates 75 years of serving Southeastern Connecticut. Since 1950, our family-owned and operated business has been dedicated to keeping homes and small businesses comfortable through every season. From our humble beginnings to becoming a trusted name in the community, this milestone is a testament to the values and commitment that have driven us for generations.
Our Beginnings: A Vision Rooted in Service
Benvenuti Oil Company was founded in 1950 by Gotardo “Ben” and Regena Benvenuti. A WWII veteran who served as a staff sergeant in the 52nd Medical Battalion and participated in the Anzio Beach Invasion, Ben returned home with a strong work ethic and a vision for the future. Armed with determination, he purchased his first truck and began delivering oil, performing burner service, and even handling plumbing installations—all by himself.
In those early days, Ben worked tirelessly to meet the needs of his customers, while Regena managed the telephone and bookkeeping from their home office in Waterford, Connecticut. Together, they built a business that prioritized reliability, community, and genuine care for their customers.
The Second Generation: Growing the Business
In 1968, Ben and Regena’s daughter Deborah married Charlie Mazzella, who joined the family business. Charlie’s forward-thinking approach added air conditioning installation and repair services to our offerings, further expanding the ways we could serve our customers. When Ben and Regena retired in the 1980s, Charlie and Deborah took the reins, continuing to grow the company while raising their four children.
The Third Generation: Embracing Innovation
In 1997, Marc Benvenuti joined the family business, bringing with him a vision for modernization. Under his leadership, we embraced technology to improve our service and communication. From online account management to field technology that allows our technicians to access customer information on the go, these advancements have made it easier than ever for our customers to stay connected with us.
Today, Benvenuti Oil Company remains a proud third-generation business, led by a family deeply invested in the community. Our trucks may now email customers directly, but our commitment to personal, reliable service remains unchanged.
